Description
Inland Empire Regional Composting Authority
The IERCF team takes great pride in producing over 230,000 cubic yards of high-quality compost each year. In anticipation of material and market changes throughout California, staff embarked on an ambitious engineering challenge to improve its finished compost production system for increased quality and increased reliability. The new systems clearly made an impact and have resulted in improvements including:
• Consistent product sizing at 3/8” minus
• Consistent screen drum RPM
• Robust, anti-corrosion system for longevity and maintenance cost reduction
• Moisture content consistently able to be adjusted to 38%
• Tramp metal removed
• Film plastic removed at approximately 500 lbs./month
Staff now intends to share their lessons learned to help others in the organics recycling and composting industry develop great systems to save money, improve quality and improve safety and reliability.
